How long will a refinished bathtub last?

With proper care and maintenance, refinishing can extend the useful life of your fixtures for up to 15-20 years or more. Our exclusive bonding agent creates a chemical bond between old and new surfaces, assuring you long life for your refinished tub.

How durable are refinished bathtubs?

Spray That Tub uses the most technologically advanced coating available. These finishes are designed to stand up to daily use and do not require special care. However, like a newly manufactured bathtub, a refinished surface can be chipped or scratched if it is abused.

Will the surface look painted?

The deep gloss of a Spray That Tub  refinished bathtub resembles new porcelain. In fact, most people will have a difficult time telling any difference between a new bathtub and a Spray That Tub refinished tub...the Spray That Tub process is that good!

How long does it take to refinish a tub or tile surround?

A standard size bathtub, in reasonable condition, takes only 3 to 5 hours to refinish. The tub will typically be ready to use within 24 hours, or even sooner with special curing procedures. Tile refinishing takes a bit longer to do and can take 6 to 12 hours depending on how much tile there is to be refinished.

How does refinishing compare to the cost of replacement?

Refinishing costs vary across the country but refinishing will almost always be a fraction of the total cost of replacing a bathtub or ceramic tile surround. Replacing and surround can easily cost $3000 or more when you consider the cost of removal, plumbing, setting new tile, etc. Refinishing can often save you up to 75% compared to the cost of replacement!

Does refinishing have an odor?

New acrylic bathtub finishes contain solvents which are necessary to make the finish hard and durable. We use special ventilation fans to exhaust odors and smells from the work area. Dissipation of the odor depends on a variety of factors including temperature and amount of air moved. Generally, most of the odor dissipates within 12 to 24 hours as the finish completely cures creating a long lasting, beautiful finish! In the event you are sensitive to paint-like odors, are pregnant, or have small children please let us know so we can discuss accommodations for your service.

Are there custom colors to choose from?

Spray That Tub can match any existing color or create almost any custom color of your choosing. We also offer Flintstone Multispec™, a stone look in a variety of colors and textures for countertops, vanities and tile surrounds. Some standard custom colors are Kohler white, Kohler biscuit, Bone, Almond, and American Standard linen. You can also choose from a Benjamin Moore color deck or a Sherwin Williams color deck and the color can be made to order.

Can Spray That Tub repair chips, scratches and cracks?

Small chips and scratches can usually be repaired during the preparation stage of the refinishing process. If it is just a single chip, we can often fill and refinish just the damaged area. With careful color matching, the repaired chip will be practically invisible. Plumbing manufacturers such as Kohler, Eljer, Lasco and Jacuzzi regularly use Spray That Tub to repair brand new fixtures that were damaged during shipping or installation.

Is refinishing just for bathtubs?

Spray That Tub can refinish a variety of surfaces including fiberglass, porcelain, acrylics, cultured marble, ceramic tile, Corian™ as well as Formica™ and other laminates.

Can counter-tops be refinished?

Formica™, Corian™ , Laminate and tile counter-tops can all be updated and made to look like new with Spray That Tubs refinishing process. Our Flintstone Multispec™ stone look finish is especially attractive and durable. Our counter-top finishes come in a variety of colors and textures, and are easy to clean, but are all significantly lower in cost compared to replacement.

How do I care for a refinished tub?

You’ll find our care instructions are similar to those for most brand new bathtubs or counter tops…do not use cleaners that contain abrasives, harsh acids, or bleach. Most bathtubs, sinks and tile become worn and dull due to abrasive cleansers, not from time. After your tub is refinished a Spray That Tub refinisher will give you a cleaning and care sheet with all the details.

Is there a warranty?

Spray That Tub offers a five-year warranty against peeling or other failure of adhesion for bathtubs, wall tile, and fiberglass.

How does refinishing compare to liners?

Bathtub liners are plastic covers that are fitted over old or damaged bathtubs. Their cost is at least twice as expensive as Spray That Tub refinishing and can take up to 3 to 4 weeks from ordering to installation. Liners can leak and create mold problems along with water damage.
